What have I learned?
As a foreigner, I began Composition II in my second college year. I studied with Professor Hammett in Composition I and absorbed many basic writings skill and knowledge. However, Composition II has provided me with a higher level of writing skills and helped me learn more than I thought I could write. During the semester, the project that took my interest the most is the rhetorical analysis essay. It is a brand-new project that I have never worked on before, and I have learned a great deal in this class with Professor Hammett.
Professor Hammett handed out many tips that are very helpful for writing the project perfectly. I have learned many key points that make the project professional. In addition, it is necessary to use rhetorically accurate verbs such as “assert”, “argue”, and “imply”, etc. in order to set a viewpoint for the audience. While doing this project, I used the PPE format which is the most basic writing format, but it is also the trickiest one because I will have to find the most reliable sources for my claims or point of view.
In the rhetorical analysis essay, I had a chance to use critical thinking skills to connect with absurd fiction authors. I had been instructed to study the meaning of absurd authors and fiction, and then develop a rhetorical analysis project. I asserted that absurd fiction authors create their object not completely meaningless, it is an open story for the viewer to freely think, absorb, and express their thoughts and feelings. I found it amazing because an author’s art can influence the community in many different ways.
Overall, I have learned a great deal from this course. Composition classes are the advancement that helps me a lot in college life and in the future. I have transformed from a foreign writer with a lack of experience and knowledge into a skillful writer. I think I am ready for university, and I believe that I will not be struggling with any other kind of writing projects in the future.
